Upon arrival at Kunming Airport, meet your private driver and begin your journey to Shilin County. Instead of heading directly to the famous Stone Forest, take a detour to discover the traditional rural charm of Stone Nuohei Village.

Nestled among the karst hills, this traditional Yi ethnic village is known for its distinctive stone houses, narrow lanes, and traditional architecture. Take a leisurely walk through the village, observe the local way of life, and discover how generations of residents have built their homes using locally sourced stone.

Enjoy a traditional local lunch before continuing to Shilin County. The remainder of the day is free for you to relax and prepare for the journey ahead.

After breakfast, depart Shilin County and drive south towards Yuanyang, a region famous for its spectacular Hani Rice Terraces.

The journey takes you through the changing landscapes of southern Yunnan, with mountain scenery, rural settlements, and picturesque countryside along the way.

Upon arrival in Yuanyang, head to Bada Rice Terraces, one of the area’s most impressive viewpoints. Stretching across the mountainsides, thousands of terraced fields form intricate patterns that reflect the remarkable agricultural knowledge of the Hani people.

Spend some time admiring the sweeping views and, weather permitting, enjoy the beautiful sunset as the changing light transforms the terraces into shades of gold and red.

Afterward, transfer to your hotel and enjoy a relaxing evening.

Start early this morning and head to Duoyishu Rice Terraces to witness the sunrise. As the first rays of sunlight illuminate the mountains, the water-filled terraces create beautiful reflections, making this one of the most memorable photography experiences in Yuanyang.

After sunrise, continue to Aichun Village, a charming Hani settlement famous for its blue terraces. Under suitable sunlight, the water-filled fields reflect the sky in beautiful shades of blue, creating a distinctive landscape.

Next, visit Azheke Hani Village, a traditional settlement renowned for its mushroom-shaped houses with thatched roofs. Walk through the village’s peaceful lanes, admire its distinctive architecture, and learn about the traditional lifestyle and agricultural heritage of the Hani people.

In the afternoon, head towards Laohuzui Rice Terraces, known for its dramatic mountain contours and expansive views. If the viewing area is accessible, enjoy the spectacular scenery and sunset before returning to your hotel.

Important: Laohuzui has experienced access restrictions due to geological hazards. Its reopening status should be checked before travel. If it remains closed, the itinerary can be adjusted to another accessible terrace viewpoint.

After breakfast, visit a local Yuanyang Ethnic Market, where Hani and other ethnic communities gather to trade fresh produce, traditional foods, and daily necessities. Observe the colorful traditional clothing and lively atmosphere while gaining a glimpse into the everyday lives of local residents.

Later, drive to Jianshui (approximately 3–3.5 hours). Upon arrival, visit Chaoyang Tower, an impressive Ming Dynasty landmark often referred to as the “Little Tian’anmen” for its architectural resemblance to Beijing’s iconic gate. You may climb to the upper level for a panoramic view of the ancient town.

Continue exploring Jianshui Ancient Town, a historic settlement renowned for its traditional architecture, ancient wells, and charming streets. Visit the magnificent Confucius Temple, one of China’s largest Confucian temples, and admire its grand halls and tranquil courtyards.

The day concludes at Zhu Family Garden, an elegant Qing Dynasty residential complex featuring traditional courtyards, decorative halls, and beautifully landscaped gardens. Take a leisurely stroll through this remarkable example of traditional Chinese architecture.

This morning, experience a scenic ride on the historic Jianshui Meter-Gauge Railway, one of Yunnan’s most distinctive railway experiences. Depart from Lin’an Station and enjoy views of the countryside as the train travels through the picturesque landscape.

Make a stop at Double Dragon Bridge, a magnificent Qing Dynasty stone bridge featuring seventeen graceful arches. Spanning the meeting point of two rivers, the bridge is a remarkable example of traditional Chinese bridge architecture and a favorite spot for photography.

Continue by train to Tuanshan Village, a well-preserved historic settlement celebrated for its traditional residences, ancestral halls, and peaceful village lanes. Explore its distinctive architectural heritage and discover the local lifestyle that has been preserved through generations.

After the visit, meet your driver and travel back to Kunming. Upon arrival, transfer to the airport or railway station for your onward journey. Please arrange a departure flight or train after 18:00 to allow sufficient time for the return transfer.
